Howdy.
I'm Nikki, the person behind Pípehò:m Tom Design Company. I created this little company because I have a love of all things creative and I want to help people make things look pretty.
The name Pípehò:m Tom (pronounced peep-a-hom) is a heartfelt tribute to family, land, and language and I give full credit to my late sister Tara for the name. In Halq'emeylem the word pípehò:m means frog and on the day that my daughter was born, Tara came to the hospital with a stuffed frog she called "Pípehò:m Tom."
When it came to naming my little design firm, Pípehò:m Tom Design Company was the perfect choice. Not only because it rhymes, but it's a nice homage to my late paternal grandfather Tommy, whose land I reside on (on Soowahlie First Nation) and all the pípehò:ms that live around here (they're loud little guys!). The fact that it makes me think of my sister and my daughter helps too.
I love LEGO and Pixar movies... like any adult woman should.
Born and raised in Chilliwack, BC, I am of Stó:lō and mixed settler ancestry and I'm thrilled to be living and working on our little slice of paradise, surrounded by family (and pípehò:ms).
With an education in Journalism and Design, I've spent over 15 years doing graphic design work. With a commitment to transforming mundane materials into engaging and easily digestible designs, I'm dedicated to brightening up the world of paperwork and creating stunning portraits and custom illustrations.
I love all things creative and have a special appreciation for LEGO and Pixar movies!
